RS Elite sailing in Royal Burnham Yacht Club, United Kingdom

The Royal Burnham Yacht Club is home to the Burnham RS Elite Fleet situated on the banks of the river Crouch, one of the East Coat’s premier sailing venues. In 2005 the RBYC was one of the first clubs in the country to adopt the Elite, identifying its appeal as a convenient, cost effective and exciting keel boat. Ever since it has proved to be the perfect race boat for the river, developing into one of the most regular and consistent fleets in the area, with some original owners still racing today! Following a brief drop in numbers the fleet is currently going through a natural growth spurt with 5 new boats joining in the last 2 years, bringing the fleet up to 12 & still growing. With a minimum of 8 out every week we have a good mix of fun, competitive racing.

The full sailing programme consists of Saturday afternoon and Wednesday night club starts every week with the addition of committee boat Mini-Series on 4 Saturdays throughout the year, plus varied formatted regattas over each bank holiday weekend. The Season kicks off with an Easter Weekend Regatta and goes on until our Grand Finale Series at the end of October. Burnham also proudly hosts the RS Elite East Coast Championships which is incorporated into Burnham Week over 3 days of the August Bank Holiday Weekend … a must try event!

Of course, it's not just about the racing, the Royal Burnham Yacht Club is famous as a fantastic social venue with onsite accommodation.  All Elite sailors & families will be warmly welcomed into the club which has a packed and varied social programme… the club always seems to find an excuse for a party!
